About This Course

This intensive course starts from the very beginning, so no previous tattooing experience is needed. Over four days, you will learn the specific techniques, needle knowledge, and hand control that fine line demands, leaving with a portfolio of real tattooed work, a CPD certificate, and a clear path to building a fine line client base.

The Curriculum

What Happens Each Day

Four days, each building on the last. This is a practical course, not a lecture: you are on the machine from day one, and the items marked Practice below are where most of each day actually goes.

Day OneFoundations

  • Infection control and cross-contamination in practice
  • Safe workstation setup and breakdown
  • Machine components, fine line needles and cartridge configurations
  • Voltage, hand speed, machine angle and needle depth
  • Grip, posture and hand positioning
  • Extended practice on synthetic skin: straight lines, curves and basic shapes, repeated until they are consistent

Day TwoFine Line Technique and Procreate

  • Procreate interface, importing and tracing references
  • Resizing and simplifying designs, preparing stencils for print
  • Clean, consistent lining and correct skin stretch
  • Starting, stopping and joining lines
  • Whip shading, dotwork and fine detail
  • The bulk of the day on synthetic skin, practising each technique individually before combining them

Day ThreeComplete Tattoo Workflow

  • Fine line, botanical and micro-script design principles
  • Designing for long-term readability
  • Stencil preparation, positioning and application
  • Client consultation, contraindications and consent
  • Skin preparation, client positioning and aftercare advice
  • Full workflow practised end to end on synthetic skin, repeated through the day

  • Consultation, informed consent and design approval
  • Workstation preparation and stencil application
  • Your own supervised live model tattoo on real skin, start to finish
  • Skin stretch, line control and needle depth on real skin
  • Cleaning, dressing and aftercare instructions

If You Already Offer PMU or Tattooing

Fine line is one of the fastest growing areas of the industry, and it sits naturally alongside what you already offer. If you work with a machine day to day, whether that is brows and lips or body work, the hardest part is already behind you: hand control, an understanding of skin, and consistency under pressure.

What changes is the machine setup, the ink, and the aesthetic demands of body tattooing. Four days is enough to add fine line to your service list properly rather than tentatively, and it is a service you can price, book and promote separately from the rest of your diary.

If You're Starting From Scratch

No previous experience is needed, and plenty of people arrive having never held a machine. You begin with infection control and machine setup, take your first lines on synthetic skin on day one, and finish with a supervised tattoo on a live model.

Four days is intensive by design. You are on the machine from the first morning and most of each day is practice rather than theory, which is what makes it possible to go from a standing start to tattooing real skin inside a week. If you would rather have more practice time between each step, the 10-Day course covers the same ground at a steadier pace.

From £850 depending on the location, which includes your tattoo kit (yours to keep), CPD accredited certificate, all consumables, live model tattooing, and ongoing lifetime support.
Yes. Day four is a supervised live model tattoo. Your design is approved by your instructor at the end of day three so it suits your ability, and they stay with you throughout the session.
Monthly at six locations: Manchester, London, Essex, Birmingham, Glasgow and Dublin. Courses run weekdays, 10am to 5pm each day. Full venue details are sent upon booking.
Yes. You receive a CPD certificate upon completing. This is accepted as evidence of training when registering with your local authority to tattoo commercially in the UK.
Yes, PMU artists are very well suited to this course. Your machine experience, skin knowledge and precision all transfer directly. The course focuses on the specific adjustments fine line body tattooing requires compared to PMU work.
